Copper Baths Installation Guide by Coppersmith Creations

Copper bath in bathroom with black mixer tap

The Copper Bathtub Installation Guide provides step-by-step instructions to help you understand the installation process for your copper bathtub.

All of our copper bathtubs are skillfully hand-hammered and carefully finished by the finest Indian artisans and coppersmiths. Each bathtub is hand-tested multiple times to ensure no leaks and perfect performance.

Since our bathtubs are handmade, slight variations in dimensions can occur. We recommend completing all installation procedures only after your bathtub has been delivered.

If you're unsure at any stage of the process, we strongly advise seeking professional installation help to ensure everything is installed correctly and safely.

Copper Bathtub Installation Steps

1. Gather Tools and Products:
Ensure you have all the necessary tools and products ready for installation. Installing the drain and faucets is recommended before placing the tub.

2. Install the Drain and Overflow:
Follow the instructions provided in the drain and overflow kit to install these components onto the bathtub.

3. Install the Faucets:
Install the faucets according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

4. Position the Bathtub:
Place the bathtub in your desired location and mark the exact position on the floor.

5. Plumbing Connections:
Run the drain pipes through the floor and attach them to the plumbing. This step is best handled by a professional.

Drain + Overflow Kit Installation

1. Assemble the Kit:
Loosely assemble the freestanding bathtub waste drain or overflow kit onto the bathtub, leaving off the tailpipes at this time.

2. Determine Water Line Locations:
Identify the water line locations for your selected bathtub filler. The tub faucet may need to be assembled before the tub is installed.

3. Final Placement:
Place the bathtub in its final location and mark the exact position on the floor.

4. Rough-In Plumbing:
Rough-in the final plumbing waste drain and water lines into proper locations. We recommend using the OS&B (#ITD35) rough-in kit, which is designed to work with most freestanding bathtubs, making plumbing rough-in fast and easy while ensuring a watertight connection.

Waste Drain & Rough-In Installation

1. Complete Rough-In:
Finalise the waste drain and waterline rough-in, and ensure that flooring is finished. Make sure the bathtub is properly supported and level.

2. Check Faucet Requirements:
Double-check the bathtub faucet installation requirements before completing the bathtub installation.

3. Apply Sealants:
Use thread sealant or plumbers tape on any threaded connections that do not have rubber gaskets. Apply plumbers putty to the underside of the drain flange, then thread it through the bathtub and into the drain pipe.

4. Secure Connections:
Ensure the waste drain and overflow are securely connected to the bathtub.

5. Final Placement and Sealing:
Place the tub back in its desired location and verify that it is level. If using the recommended rough-in kit (#ITD35), lift the tub approximately 8 inches before lowering it into its final position. Finish the installation by running a bead of silicone adhesive around the base of the copper freestanding bathtub to create a watertight seal.

6. Allow Sealants to Dry:
Allow all sealants and adhesives to thoroughly dry before filling the bathtub with water. Consult the sealant and adhesive manufacturers for drying times, as they may vary.

And that’s it! Your freestanding copper bathtub is now ready to use. For best results, always consider seeking professional help if you're unsure about any part of the installation process.
